Re: 30G
Hi
Options for substrate are -
Laminate flooring tiles
Slate tiles/pieces
Lino
Repti-carpet
These are all easy to clean and you will be able to feed in the viv without worrying.
The areas they come from have fairly hardpacked surfaces. Wood bark is a no as it holds to much moisture and can be ingested.

Re: 30G
Very nice vivs
Can I offer some bidding advice lol (giving away trade secrets now lol). Decide way before the item finishes what the maximum amount you want to spend is. You can guarentee that if you bid now, you'll be outbid quickly as they already have bids on. Once you know your max price.....wait....wait .....wait LOL Get set up and online well before it finishes, then at about 5 mins to go get your bid ready. You can click the first bid button, but then wait till like 10 seconds to go before you hit confirm.
Either of two things will happen lol You'll have the max bid and people wont have time to react, or someone will have either left a high bid or have done the same as you.
Ok, you may not win it, but at least you wont have time to be tempted to keep bidding and go way over your max price.
At present you can get that first viv, without stand, for around £59. And the second one without stand for £70 ish.
The stand/cabinet alone is around £50.

Re: 30G
ive been doing a little reserch on corns and pythons and a few places say when there smallthey should be kept in small 10l tubs because they dont like big spaces but would a 3foot be ok if i put alot of aves and wood in the tank?

Re: 30G
ive just spent agers looking through all the pics and its amazing how many diffrent morphs of corns and royals there are. i like all the albino and white ones
the last 5 in this thread are all amazing especially the gray one and the white one with a brown head.
http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/forums/snake-pictures/480929-some-special-royals-across-pond.htmlmy fav ones still have to be the carramel albinos though.

Re: 30G
The link isn't to a thread:(
Its pretty much the same for all reptiles when they are young. Hatchling corns and most others are best off in smaller enclosures to start with. Once they are feeding and growing well, they can be put in something bigger. This does give you time to get the final set-up sorted. Leos could probably go straight in the viv. Netty knows someone in Norwich who is selling a breeding colony of Pictus geckos. They're a bit like Leos but a wee bit smaller.

You can divide off the viv to make the area smaller instead of using tubs

Re: 30G
Yep, we kept all our young ones in RUBs from staples. I would go for the 17L one first for a small corn.
The colony of Pictus is 1 male and 2 gravid females, so babies soon:) He's selling them for £150 but is open to offers. They are kept just like Leos.

You could put the smaller tub inside the viv

duno ill have to see if i can get a viv for a good price first.
Vandraco aka Bronzecat wrote:For a baby snake like a corn, one of these is sufficient - RUB
For Leos, straight in the viv
that looks tiny. i have a bigger one that it could go into after that one but before the viv its about 2 foot by 1 foot by 8"
