Fish ID - KIZ & Co.! :-)
My mam is obsessed with bottom feeders of all varieties. She picked up this guy when she was in town this week. Any idea what it is??

Thats a stunner and i fish ive been wanting for a long time. Its a twig catfish/Farlowella vittata or Farlowella acus its hard to tell but either way it will get 6-7" long and good community fish but it will need feeding pellets and veg it cant just live of flake that falls to the bottom.

Mam has a whole host of pellets etc. and veg that she drops down for them all daily so no worries there. I was just very curious about what it was because I had never seen one before.

Good good. There not massively common but are quite easy to get ahold of.

Cool. its pretty much fully grown then.
How big is the tank?
Has she just got the one?
They have been bred in aquariums so it would be quite cool to get 4-5 and see if she can get a breeding pair.

That sounds good. If she can get ahold of more i would get 4-5 and see if she can get a pair and then sell the others. Ive been doing a bit of research and going by the legnth and width of the snout im 99% sure its a Farlowella vittata.

Thats what makes this hobby so fun is the variations of all the different fish.
The more I look around the more I see of course. Always like seeing new(to me) fish!

Same. I always like stuff thats a little different to just the normal. Hence why i love catfish and the characters and colours of cichlids.

I might dedicate a 10gl to a small group of corys. Possibly the Emeralds'
Skunks or Pandas. Lots to choose from! Maybe something for the top
portion of the water like a pair of dwarf gouramis.
