This beautiful scrub python met with a tragic end. Believe it or not these huge pythons often roam our suburbs in search of food.( Be very careful if you are a pussy cat) I have encountered these guys trying to eat my chickens and some have succeeded. About 3 months ago I stumbled upon this dead snake in the garden of my back yard, I pulled him out to get a good look at his size and also see why he died. You can see by the photos that a good part of his tail is missing. Then after telling everyone of the snake my son said that a guy up the road from us that goes to his school told him that he and his father were driving up to his house at night and by accident ran over him in his car. They stopped to try and help him but he slithered into our yard and disappeared. He must of died a slow and painful death judging by his injuries. It still saddens me when I view these pics. I don't mean to sadden any of yous but to give you an idea of just how big some of our nocturnal snakes can grow and how freely they roam our backyard while we are asleep.
