FILTER OR NO FILTER? Empty FILTER OR NO FILTER?

Post by yvonnewolfe Tue 17 Aug 2010 - 18:54

Does anybody use filters or air bubbles in their betta tank? I have recently put an air hose in the tanks, and by boys have stopped making their bubble nests.

I would never have a tank without a filter. Is it just a air stone or is it a air driven filter? Just air stones arnt needed especially with bettas since they breath in oxygen from the surface. Do you have any floating plants in the tank? Floating plants or floating indian almond leaves will often tempt bettas to make bubblenests in them.

I always have fresh plants in the tank. I use just an air stone. Maybe I just need a new set up with a filter. Thanks for your help!

Do the plants go to the surface?
You can use sponge filters that are driven of air stones. Like this

The plants do float on the surface. Thank you so much for the info!
