CT females question... Empty CT females question...

Post by Taelin Sun 9 May 2010 - 1:59

Okay, I have two CT females. I bought them both from the lfs, but they came in the same shipment and are quite possibly siblings. Both are HUGE! I mean, they look absolutely full of eggs. They were big and round when I bought them, but they've only gotten bigger! After eating they look like they're going to explode! Is this a common thing for CT's? In my forum travels I"ve noted that a lot of people have female CTs that are hugely eggy... But can it hurt them? They both seem happy enough. Just rather round.

Just after I bought her. But she's gotten bigger since this picture.

A few days ago. She was yawning.

The red tail you can see at the right of the last picture is the other CT and she's bigger still!

Looks to be very eggy to me. We've only ever had one female CT and she was always very eggy too.

I'm thinking it's just a CT thing. Can it hurt them, though?

Some can become egg bound and the only way to relieve them is by either spawning or chimney with a male in sight and hopefully they'll drop the eggs.

What are signs of eggbound? Just so I know what I'm looking for...

As long as they are swimming and eating normally then they should be fine. If they look like they're getting uncomfortably big then you may need to help out.

This was the little CT female we had. We actually did breed her which helped.

Did it help her not be so big afterwards?

She always did have a bit of a tummy compared to the other girls but was fine. Some girls will drop eggs just looking at a male. I've had a few girls that after 24 hrs in the chimney have dropped eggs but it varies.

oh gosh!

If thats very eggy I feel very sorry for Lucy!

She is square with eggs - she always is. She didnt drop all her eggs on her last spawn either and filled up again very quickly
