Females
Ok, well i think i have 3 females left from my spawn, and i want to put them in with there mother (if possible)
There getting bigger slowly, and more colourfull... however, i was woundering what would happen if i was to put them with there mother now, compared to her there tiny, so would she just batter them all about or what?
I dont dare to try it without asking about first!
If thats the case, when do you reccomend that i can put them together?
Thanks, Craig

Re: Females
Hiya
Its one of those unknowns really??
Depends a lot on tank size, character of the fish, etc...
If you do try it, best remove the mum and do a bit of a move around of the plants and decor. Then put the little ones in and finally the mum. Keep the mum out for about an hour though.
You could put mum in a breeder net in the tank for a few days also. We have tried this to intruduce new females, and just gives them a couple of days to get used to having others in with them.

Re: Females
i dont have a breeder's net, but i could use the glass vause i used for breeding, maybe leave her in it for a few hours? Not massive so i dont want her in there for too long....
saying that she was in there a day or so while breeding... she has grown a fair bit though

Re: Females
Saying that, she's in the same tank as them now, only divided....
Im sure she see's them a little trough it now and then already...

Re: Females
The only problem is that girls become very terrotorial so will fight over territory. If you take her out and rearrange the tank then put the youger ones in before her then they will get used to their new home and when you put her in she wont have her 'territory' any more! this reduces the chances of fighting! well its how I have always understood it anyway!!

Re: Females
If they are that small, then it might be best to wait In cm's, what sort of length are they?

Re: Females
Well, you can always try. Just do the rearranging stuff before, and just keep an eye on them. The only problem is, we've found that most damage and fighting goes on at night.....typical:)

Re: Females
haha! Well, like i said. the female is sharing a tank with them already, but divided, and she carnt see into the other side where they are. So to her, it's already new, to them... its the norm lol

Didn't see where you said the mother would be moved into their side, just assumed from your first post you were moving her:) Just keep a watch on em :D

Re: Females
well ideaily id put her in and then open it up into one big tank if they got on ok, but move it around if that was the case
Re: Females
If you can take the divider out easily (i.e. its not stuck in) I would give em the whole tank from the start:)
