Aquarium Salt With Every Waterchange? Empty Aquarium Salt With Every Waterchange?

Post by OceanMaria Tue 20 Apr 2010 - 14:38

Hi!

I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were! Is it beneficial to fish (primarily the betta) to add aquarium salt with every water change?

**Still trying 2 get pics of new bettas, having camera issues now! Mad

I really don't think it's necessary to add salt to their tanks as a regular thing. Especially as the weather gets warmer, the more the tank water evaporates, the more concentrated the salt levels will be in the tank, which isn't good.

i dont see the point in adding it unless the fish is ill and it sometimes helps. i cant see how it would benfit a fish thats freshwater because they are oviously adapted and do fine in freshwater so i think it would proberly do more harm than good.

At the moment I use a small cap of aquarium salt at every water change because both my bettas have just got over a touch of fin rot and I'm still dubious about the regrowth. Once I'm sure its all good I'll cease usage.
