Suitable for a girl? Empty Suitable for a girl?

Post by Rezz Mon 9 Nov 2009 - 18:37

I have a 126L community and I'm wondering if I could get away with putting a girl in there, stocking is;

4x zebra danios
4x dwarf rainbows
3x glass catfish
2x male guppies (lost their third friend this weekend Sad)

I know stocking is pretty much done, I'm just curious as to if a girl'd be okay in this setup, if not I have space in the divided for her. Opinions?

Well bettas and guppies are a big no no. So i'd say no, i also wouldnt think a girl would get on with the other stocking, rainbows etc.
Dont htink id put her alone ither, when i tried a girl on her own she wasnt too happy. But oyu could try it and see if it works out alright. But some girls may prefer groups of 6+
Sorry about loosing your guppy [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Mmm, I thought perhaps as she wouldn't be quite so long tailed etc they wouldn't mind each other, but I wanted to check, I probably won't.

I probably wouldn't divide the tank (It's rather tall so =/), I'd rather start a sorority once I get my next tank up, just wondering if it was an option lol.

Well it could work.
Sometimes it depends on the betta. Aslong as you have a back up incase it doesnt work?
But its just one of those things, could go ither way. Smile

I know people say that Bettas and Guppies dont go, but this is normally due to the guppies going for the fins.
As long as the female doesn't resemble the guppies too much, i.e. colour, i would think they should be ok.

Tbh, I'd try it and make sure the space in the divided tank is set up for her just in case. That's just me though.

I've got one of my girls in with 7 neon tetras, 3 corys and a shrimp and she loves it.

Well I've got a divided tank with 2 sections empty at the moment so I would have a back-up plan Smile
