Jodie's birthday present!

It's my oldest daughters birthday next thursday (she's gonna be eight) and i went to pick up her present, well half of it, tonight. She wanted a goldfish last year but wasn't allowed (she lives with my parents as she has cerebal palsy, long story!) however now that i am keeping fish my mum has agreed to let her have a small tank as long as i maintain it.

Sooo i found a tank on ebay but missed the auction. Fortunately it didn't sell so i messaged the woman and she let me have it for a tenner!!

It has everything with it to set it up straight away (which i will be doing tomorrow) now i just need to find a betta for her! :cheers:

Nice! That was the tank for my first ever betta, and he loved it!

Well today is jodies birthday and she fell in love with her male straight away thanks to netty and van!!! She has named him Garados after a water dragon pokemon. He loves the tank and the plants, he's even been playing in the water flow from the spray bar!! Will post pics as soon as my mum gives me my camera back

It's so nice that jode wants to learn everything about caring for him, she helped sort the tank out and fed him and knows how to read the themometer.

That's fantastic news Crystal....I'm so glad she has fallen in love with him. He's such a pretty boy :Love: Can't wait to see him in his pink palace :lol!: I'm still sooooo jealous!!!!

She absolutely loves Garados, and can't wait to do her first water change! Netty, Jodie would like to know when his birthday is, she was asking me all day today so if you know it could you let me know so i can tell her.

I can't believe how happy he is in his new home, he's swimming round like a little madman, even my mum is growing to like him and she's not a fish person at all!

Oh Netty, jodie keeps buying him presents, she bought him some coloured glass gem stones and a candle. She said he can look at his candle through the tank, bless her, she makes me laugh sometimes!

She's now panicing cause she has to go into hospital on thursday for an operation and she's worried that no one will look after him(she could be in for up to 2 weeks and it's in oxford), so i've had to promise to drive over everyday and feed him lol

Awww bless her.....I hope all goes ok with her Op. I bet she'll be eager to get home again and spoil him even more. He'll probably change alot while she's away and it'll be a nice surprise if his fins are even bigger when she gets back

Yeah, i have explained to her that he's got more growing to do, she's convinced he's grown since thursday lol

I expect he will probably more than double in size looking at some of the boys we have that are bigger than him and still growing!!!!! You'll have to get pics so Jodie can look back and see how much he changes

Yeah i'm gonna keep a diary of his growth, same as i do with my babies. Jodie said thank you as well, i thought she was gonna cry when we first put him in the tank. Anyway i will update this thread with his growth x

Well Jodie went in for her op on Thursday and all she's been worried about is little Garados (she's called him Gary for short). When i went round on Sunday Jodie hadn't been able to go up the stairs by herself, i asked her how gary was and she said he hadn't been fed that day so i offered to go up and do it. She refused to let me do it and told my mum and me that she was gonna do the stairs. My mum didn't think she'd be able to do it as it's painful for her to put any pressure on her feet due to the op. Anyway i helped Jodie onto the first step and off she went lifting herself on to the next step. When she got halfway up she looked at me and said 'i'm doing this for Gary cause he needs me' OMG i could of just burst into tears. I can't believe she's making so much effort for her little guy, especially when she's in pain. She's been so brave and i'm so glad she loves gary so much x
