Aw suh a shame Sad But absolutly not your fault! I once lost a hillstream loach. One day perfectly healthy, the next just disapeared.... never found any evidence. And those fish aren't jumpers so who knows what happened there!

It happens to the best of us from time to time... don't beat yourself up over it hun.

If there's a gap... good chance a betta will find it. I lost one today myself... had a girl in breeding net cos of being nipped... another daft one decided to swim the back of it, got stuck and drowned Sad

Don't see how i could've prevented it, it's horrible but it happens... keep your chin up... it diff if you intentionally lost a fish doing something silly but you haven't

And if you ever did find out what happened i'm sure you'd do your best to ensure it never happened again.

Melly loves fish!! Melly good betta mum!!!

Hey mel i hope she does reappear. Luna disappeared one day and i never found her but i think the crab got her, she'd got in to a habit of taking naps on the bottom by the bogwood where he lives. No matter how hard you try with them there are always losses, i had a jumper as well, bruce, i wish i had a cat to eat him as it was horrible finding his little body on the floor. Chin up, just love the other nine a little bit more in her memory x x

I lost the first ever orange betta I had just a few weeks ago, I'd bought a yellow and an orange girl. They were fine for 2-3 days then all of a sudden the orange girl had disappeared. We tore the tank apart, tore the filter apart, looked underneath/behind the tank and there's no clues as to where she is. Completely disappeared.

I've had many girls just vanish without a trace. In my most recent sorority, my favourite girl disappeared into thin water (air?). I assumed that she'd been attacked by the dominant girls. There was one time in the last sorority where I thought I'd lost one, and I looked and looked ... I found the little one trapped in a decoration. So I got her out very quickly . She was in very bad shape and she died minutes later. I stopped up all of the holes with silicon glue and no one has gotten hurt since.

I'm so sorry about your lost one Melly .. it's so hard to lose the girls. But it's a risk you have to take if you want a successful sorority.

It is strange, cos when a fish dies you normally find the body. Or being fish, disappearing means they've just squeezed themselves into something. But these girls are a nightmare! Another thing is that a body will shrivel up and look nothing like a fish body(can't remember how long that would take).. so it is possible she's jumped, and you're too late to find anything that looks like a fish!
