Well, it happens. Sometimes girls can turn around and start killing one another with no warning, and can be uh.. consumed.. It's not your fault, perhaps something was wrong with her that the more dominant girls picked up on. Sad Circle of life sort of thing.

Also, some decorations are terribly designed, and fish can get stuck in places you would not believe. I've been told about someone having to literally break open a plastic log on the floor to get a kuhli out.. although I heard the kuhli somehow lived.

I've checked the lighting area Sad

OMG do you really think she might have been eaten. I can't imagine these tiny girls doing that. The only decorations we have are live plants and coconut caves and a solid rock. I have checked all those.

If she was attacked by another for pack position, then the others could have also attacked her. It would have been the corys that cleaned up though:(
It seems very quick though??

They were all perfect in every way. They all seem to get along like a house on fire. They were all very content and stuffing their faces this morning

Its possible i suppose. My bet is on a jumper though. I had a female jump out of the little hole in the hood where the wires come through, and had a female jump out whilst i was moving something in the tank. I only noticed when she started flapping around on the floor as i didn't see her jump.

Now you see even before the girls arrived I thought about that hole with the wires and trev taped it all up so nobody could escape. I feel bad if shes jumped and I didn't see her Sad

Sororities are inherently risky, especially when they're sort of coming-of-age. A sorority can be fine for months, and all of a sudden, full scale war. =( It's sadly not unheard of for fish to just disappear in community tanks.

I've had ghost shrimp fly merrily out of the area left open for the heating/filtration cords, but a whole betta is somewhat harder to imagine. Maybe swish the gravel and check the filter media for.. bits..

And I didn't mean to be rude earlier by suggesting mellychops received unhealthy fish, just trying to make him/her feel better. >_>

I have sand and there are no bits and we've had the whole filter out Sad

LOL I'm a her and thank you .The fish are all in perfect condition . I'm starting to think she must have jumped whilst I was feeding. With 5 cats I don't think I'll ever find her

Aw Mel I'm sorry to hear this. Though I have sometimes been convinced I have lost fish, searched the tank for them, found nothing, given up... and then all of a sudden, there they are.... dunno where they hide!
