Just about to upload a few.
Have jarred two possible boys so far, one I think is a definite male the other two is one of the huge girls to get a good photo of and the other I'm not sure about. Still see possibly another two boys in the tank.

Ok this is what I got so far. The first is the one I think is a definite male, so comments/thoughts on that are very welcome! The second is one of the big girls, and third one I'm not sure about - big flare and very angry LOL, but not too boyish. The others are a a few from the tank, which I'll be jarring all of them later on to get a proper look.

Yeah, I think I'm happy with the 3rd being a boy. Still the other one I'm unsure about and there is a bit of havoc in the tank with another two. Need to wait til kids are in bed to sort them out properly. Two of them are only about 8 weeks old(from a second spawn) but I just took them along with this lot and will let them grow out. One of them is IDENTICAL to that little turq boy I got.

I moved one of the huge girls in with the rest of the girls, and got the male settled in as well. Still to check the rest. However, I've just gone out and there is a HUGE bubblenest in the girl tank now, with the big girl hanging out underneath it and chasing the other girls away from it when they come near. Have I got the sex wrong?

I know one of the big ones is definitely a girl, because she was the mum of all the others. The two of them look exactly the same. Absolutely identical. Just goes to show that males and females can look the same! :lol!: Have moved him to his own bit in the boys tank. The others aren't showing any problems being together at the moment so will just need to keep an eye on them to spot any more boys. That's 3 boys so far.

Maybe Netty, not sure yet although she does look as if she needs it LOL. I'm totally in love with one of the boys(the 3rd one in the first lot of pics), the more purpley BF one. He's in really good condition, nice big chunky boy. Will need to get some more pics of him.

I don't really know what to call these colours. All of them have purple bodies, ranging in shades. The ones with the lilac bodies(like this girl) have the sky blue/turquoise fins, some BF as well. The ones with the darker pinky/purple bodies have the same colour fins all going into BF. Can't say I've seen anything like it, gorgeous pastel colours in some of them. Going to be a nice line to work with I think!

Stolen off forum that shall not be named and quoting Modaz :lol!:

It involves 3 colours, 1 that must be present is the white butterfly,
this must be shown in all fins and the ventrals as well. The other 2
colours can be anything but they must not be a wash. The body will be
one colour and then from the body and into the fins will be another. A
good gene that will breed true if both parents are salamanders

That probably sums it up LOL. So I've got salamanders in all different colours haha.

So, I'm thinking salamanders of two different colours shouldn't be mixed?

i.e, for that boy I'm talking about should pair with a male with the same colouration and for that girl in the photo should pair with a male, again, with the same colouration.

I would be inclined to go with the ones that match the best as far as colouring goes. Would be interesting though, to do both and see if the results are very different or not!!!

Would love to put that girl with the chunky purple boy. Also still wondering if there's any giant blood in those two huge fish. They weren't part of the spawn at all, were bought with the other pairs. I saw Daddy and a brother of the spawn and they certainly weren't as big! So wondering if it perhaps has been a pair?
