Betta vs Betta. WHY ??

Why do them make them fight ??

I live in Thailand. And i have seen alot bad things. Them beach boys here. Love to sit around a bottle. Drink and laughe about 2 bettas fighting..

well we would always say it is a historical cultural sport, just as in old england historically there would be cockfights (male chickens fighting to the death) it is now illegal here but historically it was acceptable as a sport, I expect it is the same in Thailand but of course in Thailand it is not illegal and still considered a sport

I think also there was alot of money to be made on these fights, so the poorer people were able to make some much needed money if they had a good fighter.

We're very much against fish fighting here and feel it's barbaric a cruel.

Historically it was the poor farmers that started the betta fighting but then as they started to breed them and develop the longer fins they realised that there was a market for selling them to make their money and slowly the fights were dwindled down. The fights we see these days on places like Youtube have nothing to do with this culture but more an act of cruelty and people with nothing better to do and thinking it's fun to watch them fight!!

I think it's absolutely horrible, I don't see how people can say dog fighting is barbaric and this isn't, it's the same level in my book, cruel and vindictive.

I think I speak for most people here when I say we would never do it and we believe it is very cruel. However, it's pretty dangerous ground to openly condem the practices of another culture when we don't live in the culture or truly understand it.

I understand u and do agree with u. My friend show me a documentary about fighting dogs. It is named *******. When i see the video i was shoked. Wow so twisted peopels kan be.
