Pet shop woes

Just a note, I bought 4 females from a local water world type shop, introduced them in the normal way, I noticed the male that was already in the tank with his only female was cut to shreads the next morning. I isolated him straight away and he recovered in a week or so. I since found out 2 of the females are in fact male half moon types. I got a bit of a bargain £2.95 each but my poor male and Dad of my new wrigglers found out the hard way. I have said sorry but he still gives me one of them looks Mad

Its not unusual for males to be mixed up with females at LFS.

I have split them all up now I have 3x2ft tanks for breeding 3x3ft and 5 small tanks to allow them to recover and hold the males some are community tanks where the females are split into. Sorry about the blue writting it is rubbish.

Sorry 2 of the 3ft tanks are community tanks 2 females are in one of them. 1 is with the dad of the wrigglers 1 is with the newly discovered males and one is with a young ink blue male (he`s not interested in any females I have put him with) hmmmm Clear as mud? lol

so you're not housing males and females in the same tank undivided- in the same swimming area

I was untill I realised 2 of the females where in fact males. Not anymore they are all seperated.
