Getting My New Birdies Tomoz :D
After the death of Joey my pet budgie last friday i asked my mum if i could rehome the sick and injured finches and other birds that are kept at my works in my old bugdie flight, and she said yes! Well seeing as i work there i will be getting the birds for free and they will be a mix of 3 canaries about 6 zebra finches and a few others... Oh and a partially blind quail. Also my owrks have told me that if the birds were to breed they would happily pay me for the youngsters. Just thought i would post to see if anyone else out there had finches of some sort.

Thats a good offer, both from your Mum letting you bring them home, and from work that they'll buy babies from you

Oh bless. about 10 years ago someone found a male zebra finch and gave it to me. i put it in an old cage and bought it a friend, they had one baby. Then they had another 5 babies. i removed any further eggs and slowly they died off after about 5 years of living together. The last one died only a couple of months ago aged about 10 years. They live very well with canaries.

Yeah they are getting on fine with them, a little fighting going on to establish whos boss. im picking up 4 more zebras tomoz. i have a semi blind chinese painted quail with them as well called one eyed willy lol. i think the space they have will need to be modified a little to adjust to the new amount in there. but seeing as these birds have been stuck in an overcorwed cage with only 2 perches i think a small avairy with 20 or so small finches should be great for them :D im just so glad i could give them a new home after working with them for over 2 years and seeing them in this dark cramped cage and now they finally get to see sunlight. they were all having a bath and sunbathing today actually at the front of the avairy lol, they seem so happy.

I had an aviary in my back garden about 15 yrs ago :D It was 18ft x 6ft and housed 5 cockateils, including a pair of the white coloured ones (cant remember what they're known as)
I also had a Kakariki :D They are well funny little birds and act like little chickens. However they eat electric cables :lol!:
