My new little pal!
I've been saving for a while for this, and finally got it last week. Ok, so it's nothing spectacular but I don't believe in birds being kept in tiny cages so hence why I had to save :lol!: He/she is 8 weeks old, and from a champion breeder. I don't have a name, so any ideas are very welcome. Needs to be something unisex though, as I won't know if it's a boy or girl for a few weeks.
Now, for cuteness
And his home.. maybe bit much for a budgie, but I'd rather he/she was comfortable!
The bird is hand tame, easily allows you to pick him up and we're working on the step up. Somehow he thinks you're just clapping his belly when that's going on LOL.

Re: My new little pal!
If its a girl Id be tempted to go with Rose after Rose's Lime cordial because that lime green is so strong! and if its a boy...maybe Basil?

Re: My new little pal!
looks like a male to me.... i used to breed budgies myself but i wouldnt take my word for it. males generally make better pets but females are just as good with a little more attention and can easily be made to talk. the last budgie i have now talks lol he is still singing christmas songs bless him.

Re: My new little pal!
Nath - got a lot of people saying girl to me at the moment. Going to try and get it confirmed soon as I can. Would love to get her/him to talk, don't know if I could handle sitting 15 mins at a time repeating something LOL

May be a girl then im just going by the photo by if people have told you its a female frpm having a look up close then there your best bet to trust. my budgie (Joey) says a variety of words and phrases for 30 mins at a time they do sound creepy when they speak though

I'd love to get this to talk, but I think words it WILL pick up will be from Aidan. He repeats himself constantly during the day so more than likely :lol!:

Haha. I had a panic today as well, wee boy was outside so back door was left open. Forgot all about the bird and as it flew into the hall I remembered and had to chase it to grab it LOL.

Re: My new little pal!
Ooops happend to me once as well. when i let Joey out he normally fly's straight onto the handles of the top windows in the living room. the one day it was hot so the windows were open and stupid me let him out. luckily he flew onto the curtain rail instead otherwise i would have lost him for sure.

Re: My new little pal!
I've got a problem, I have no idea what's wrong with her. She's been really bad with nightfrights and yesterday she had blood on her feathers and staining her left leg but she was still perching ok etc so a budgie forum recommended just keeping an eye on her. Today, she's all ruffled up and bleeding from her nostrils/mouth.. all over her face. She's still crashing about her cage like a maniac as well.

Re: My new little pal!
Nope, not at all. It's such a shame, I have no idea what to do with her. I've seen her eating but not drinking since yesterday. Don't know if I mentioned, but when I did bring her home she sat bobbing her tail and her breathing has always been out of sorts.. kind wheezy. Thought she just needed to settle in, and now this! I think I'm going to lose her, she really doesn't look too good And then the breeder will be getting a piece of my mind, bloody champion breeder.. can't even sell healthy stock!

Re: My new little pal!
Hmm normally the shock thing is caused by sometinhg scaring it in the night. do you have anything that could do that as it can cause major shock and even death? keep an eye on the bleeding through the nostril as i had a budgie with the same problem at work and it bled to death due to the warm conditions.

Re: My new little pal!
It's not just her nostril though, the blood is all over her face as if it's coming from nostril and mouth. There's nothing that could be scaring it, I cover her up etc during the night as well and there's nothing in the room with her except the fish tanks which don't make any loud random sounds as far as I know!
