Possible Large Scale Rescue!
Just been browsing ebay and came across this 150631246380 now i am seriously considering making an offer and try to save these 23! males housed in a 2ft tank
I am probablt going to get killed for even considering this, but the fish deserve better than this!
If i do get them i would nurse them back to health then look at adopting them out to good homes.
I can't believe anyone would do this!
It makes me feel ill thinking about it

Re: Possible Large Scale Rescue!
How absolutely horrfying. 'Chinese figher fish', no heater or filter and all stuck in together - they honestly would have fared better living in jars and mugs until they could get rid of the poor blighters
Obviously they know nothing about bettas or fishkeeping - I seriously hope these have been rescued responsibly by whoever got them. Wouldn't be surprised if these have been used by some sicko for fighting.

I hope someone took them as a rescue
I honestly don't think I could have gone to collect them without punching the seller in the face, scum.

A slap is more humiliating than a punch.

Re: Possible Large Scale Rescue!
i have sort of the same predicament, a local pet store is closing down and is offering me his last stock of bettas, about 15 males and the owner is selling it to me at less than a dollar per fish. now, here's the predicament, i want to get all of them but i can't have 15 small individual aquariums at home (my wife would kill me with the help of my mother... i already have 6 rescued dogs, 5 shih-tzus and 2 cats). I have an unused 30gal aquarium, how many can i put into it without them fighting? i think 15 would be too many for that small tank so what would be a good number?
looking forward to any help you may have.
regards to all.
p.s. i really know nothing about fishes (i don't even like eating fish).

Re: Possible Large Scale Rescue!
No it wouldn't work out putting them all in one tank. You can put several females together with minimal aggression but not the males. Remember they are referred to
as "Siamese Fighting Fish" for reason.
Nice thought on doing a large rescue though.

Re: Possible Large Scale Rescue!
hmmm... sad thought, i was hoping i could get at least 5 or 6 in the 30gal tank and then the rest on smaller 1.5 gallon small display tanks each that i could spread around the house. i saw a supplier on the internet who can deliver the small tanks/bowl cheap.
i might have to change my order for the small tanks. thanks a lot 2tall for the tip!

Re: Possible Large Scale Rescue!
I know and understand that all of the posts on this site are outdated, but I felt like I should respond and maybe get a good conversation going. Some people are extremely ignorant and don't know that these fish are called Siamese Fighting Fish for a reason. Knowing that they were on ebay, I doubt that they were adopted by someone who knew what they were doing. It's a shame that they had to go through all that pain and suffering. If I would've known about this at the time that they were listed, I would've purchased them and healed them.
