Trying to Figure Out What to Do
I've had fish for years now and am considering stopping. I'll continue to have a betta, but I don't know if I want any others. The thing is, I have three neon tetras in a 10 Gal. tank. I know this isn't a healthy number and they should be in larger groups. I don't want to leave them in a stressful situation, but I'm not sure I want to keep getting more. I don't know anyone who can take them and add them to their tank. Is three way too small of a number? What do I do when I'm down to one or two? What's the best way to get out of keeping social fish?

How about putting them on Craigslist?
I have a divided ten gl. with two Neons left and have one for each Betta to play with. They seem to chase them around the tank a couple times then leave them alone for long periods.

they cope pretty well. I sometimes have had one molly or platy left and they live well by themselves. I usually move them to a smaller tank, put a mirror behind the glass, lots of fresh warm water and they think they have a friend in with them

I think just the three in the 10 Gal. was too stressful. They haven't been eating well, so I moved them to a smaller tank and they ate yesterday. However, it was too late for one who had become ill. After I moved them, he seemed to be doing okay. He'd been swimming with a tilt to one side and seemed to be doing better better, (swimming right side up and ate a little). Sadly though, he was spinning in circles when I woke this morning and he just died a few minutes ago.
