Meet Piper
Meet Piper my Mottled Russian Campbells craigslist rescue. He was a " free to a good home" ad and with him being advertised as a biter and unsexed not mentioned was he was also kept in a bi-level cage but confined to the bottom so he had less room than a CT and his wheel was too low so it wouldn't turn. Since I had everything set up for the mice ( easily converted for little Piper) I decided to bring this little one home. Sorry About the quality I cant find my camera cord. Tomorrow I'll upload better ones. I have let him out in his ball and petted him a little and so far no bites. I know I said no dwarfs but I'm SO glad I got this little boy. :D He's a joy already even if I cant handle him yet. The last one is a video

Re: Meet Piper
I think he was biting out of frustration and lack of exercise. So we'll work on it. He doesnt seem overly afraid of my hand which is good.

Re: Meet Piper
oh bless, thank you for rescuing. Quite often they bite just out of sheer fear or frustration.
We had a rat once that used to bite but it had never been handled. It was quite happy in an enormous cage, never did like being handled though..

Re: Meet Piper
he's doing great he already walks into his ball when I put it near him. I'm making him get extra exercise to curb the biting and I'm making sure he knows not to be afraid I just let him come out of the ball at his own pace and run around on me and pet him some I only pick him up when he runs too far since he would get lost easy but he doesnt mind. The guy was selling his other hamster for $40 ugh.
