I think my BN's are female Empty I think my BN's are female

Post by Nataliey Sun 7 Nov 2010 - 11:21

Iv had my BN's a while now and they are growing quite big now they are about 3 inches long and looking quite butch, there's no signs of any tiny bristles which i guess i would've gotten by now, they are very beautiful fish.

Iv gotten so interested in them that im on a look out for some albino BN's and im going to my lfs today to see if they have any...fingers crossed!

But here's a few photos of my brown BN ladies...

There looking great. Are they 3" including tail or not including it? If there 3" including tail then theres still a chance they could be male if its not including tail then you can be almost certain there females. Some of mine are 3" not including tail now and all the males have about 10 bristles that are probably about 2mm long.
If you cant find any more Oddballs express are selling fry from a wild caught pair in Colombian for £1 each.

They are 3" including tail the smaller one of the 2 has caught up with growing almost the same length and butch like the other.

Iv just been to MH and bought a male of same size as my 2, he's lovely i can see his tiny bristles on his nose, iv taken a few photos of him but you cant see them really.

I also asked about albino BN's and iv got 2 on order cant wait to get them...Kiz its your fault im into BN's now, lol! Smile

There could still be a chance there male but they will probably be females if they dont have any bristles at all.

Sounds good. Give it till there about 4" and you could have a load of fry on the way.

Albinos are great. I would go for the ones that are a more yellow colour because they look alot nicer than the white coloured once when older IMO.

Haha. They are great fish so you can blame me. With 5 you will have over 100 like me soon.

WELL, i thought wrong it now turns out that i now have 2 males and one female!

I moved one of the BN's into Caspers section in the 100 litre tank as it needed a bit of a clean! (He's done a fab job BTW) and as i can see better in the tank i noticed tiny pimples on his nose and now i see little bristles so cute! Also iv noticed they are all changing colour and spots are fading a little.
