Killer Snail Empty Killer Snail

Post by Irish_Lass Wed 6 Oct 2010 - 19:57

So my friend put a mystery black snail into a tank with her ADF. She admitted not researching beforehand but she thought "its a snail, what harm can it do!" She came home and it was killing 1 of the frogs? Any idea of what sort of snail it might be and are there snails that would kill other fish/frogs etc.? She's removed the snail for now but is completely baffled.

Snails are opportunist and wont kill fish/frogs but if they get the chance they will eat one. Its most likely the ADF was dieing already and the snail has latched onto it because its very unlikely a healthy ADF couldn't pull away from the snail. Although it might me best to get rid of the snail just to be on the safe side

kiz is right they wont kill but are very oppertunistic! a dead or dying fish/frog is a meal to them. they will even make a meal of another snail if it is dead or dying!!
