Old Tank
I have this old tank that I use to use but was left outside after my family move house(outside at the newhouse), its this 2 foot long nice tank, but it has cracks at bottom but is not leaking as I put water in it when cleaning it out. Its upstairs atm, I just put gravel and silk plants just for the sake of it and about a litre of water its showing no sign of leakage, will it be safe to put fish in or shall I just leave it? As im getting a new tank anyway but I like recycling old stuff, so what do you reccomend?

Re: Old Tank
Aslong as you gave it a really good clean i dont see why it wouldnt be fine. How deep are the cracks? if there big ones just to be on the safe side it might be best to silicone a small piece of glass or acrylic over them.

I wouldnt fancy having big open cracks on the inside incase of of the fish scrapes against them. I would try and get 3 small bits of acrylic and silicone it over them just to be on the safe side.

Re: Old Tank
I think I would cover the whole bottom with one piece and then just seal around the bottom. Safer I think IMO!

Re: Old Tank
Yeah i would try and cover them. You could cut bits from a fish safe storage box to cover them.

Re: Old Tank
I think one sheet of perspex siliconed over the bottom inside would be best... sticking little bits over it still leaves stress points which could crack further once you have the weight of water inside.
