Leelu
Well, I made a deal with my honey as all my betta keep dying and it really depresses me. Until we leave Juneau, AK I will not have anymore bettas. I will still read up and research as when we get to NC I will be getting back into them. But as for now I get a new kitty. I went down to the local shelter two days ago and applied for Leelu, when I told them who I wanted the lady literally yelled across the room "Someone wants Lulu!" (When I did meet and greet I called her Lulu and she ignored me, I tried Leelu and she laid down belly up and looked cute, so that is why the name change) Apparently she has been there since July 2009, poor baby! I guess she was waiting for me! Anyways I told the lady she looked cute for me, the lady said she has never done that for anyone else besides staff, so this is a good sign. I am waiting for them to call me, (they have to check references and such) I should be bringing her home today. I will post pics asap! But I wanted to let you all know that is why I have not gotten another betta baby yet. I will still read and learn from all of you (and at all your pic, but until we move to a warmer climate I will refrain from buying I just don't want to watch anymore die right now! Thanks everyone for all the help and support through the loss of my three babies!

Re: Leelu
Thanks Wilson! I can't wait to pick her up! My other kitties will be none to happy for a while, but they will get over it, just like when I brought Phead in. I just don't understand why no one wanted her, she is so friendly and ran right to the door when the guy went in, like she was saying pick me, pick me! She is Calico with a squat face and medium hair, and she will be spoiled rotten here!

Re: Leelu
They said they had to check references, as of yesterday the only one they might not have talked to was Tracy, she's a CNA and works odd shifts. After they check me out and all that they said they would call, 1 to 2 days, this is day 2. As soon as they clear me they will call me to come get her. Where's the emoticon pulling out their hair? Just a bunch of waiting, everyone knows I am great with cats and dogs, just not so good at Bettas right now. Might be I didn't have the right temp and all, but guppies have moved into big tank in bedroom and are just overjoyed! it stays about 27 to 28 without heating! I like it hot!

Re: Leelu
She doen't want to look at the camera right now, she is in the bedroom by herself for the moment getting used to the smells, she's loving, then poof she's a brat! So she has a good amount of personality, she should fit in fine in a few weeks! She is an older cat, 6 years old (they were so excited to see her go!) and I am so happy to rescue her!
Sorry about the vent, we had it covered but we rearranged and found more to cover That will happen soon!

Re: Leelu
Thanks Liz, they said the same at the pound! Usually the older animals don't get adopted. One nice thing about Juneau is they don't euthanize unless the animal is not adoptable (scratching, biting, mean, feral). So they will not euthanize any of the kitties I saw there!

Re: Leelu
I think it is a good trait, she has her own ideas and is not afaid to express them! To many animals at the pound have been abused and lost there personalities inside fear or anger, and though you can work with one like that and bring them out of their shell, it is just so hard and heartbreaking! I am glad she doesn't have the fear factor, we will see as the month passes how she is!

Re: Leelu
Well the hair pulling is over how her and Phaed will do. Leona's easy going for the most part and Nannie is a scaredy cat, but Phaed has always been pushy, afraid she's gonna get a few bites over this. I did find out Leelu was hit at one time or another, she was in the bathroom and I picked up a brush to see her response, duck and cower. Poor baby! She will learn though, the only thing we use is voice and water bottle, the other three are trained to voice, they know tone. When they are doing wrong I just say Etta (not sure the spelling Athabaskin I think for no, or don't) and they stop! Love works better than pain.

Re: Leelu
Yeah, after she kicks Phaed's ... But I can't really blame her, she is not actively looking to fight, so if Phaed get bitten- she probably deserves it. I am so happy she's here and can't wait for her to settle. She comes out when I call her. And they get wet food tonight! I give them wet food every thrid night or so and Daddy gives them kitty treats or catnip She will be a spoiled rotten putty kitten!
