Poorly Casper Empty Poorly Casper

Post by Netty Mon 7 Dec 2009 - 17:35

Our poor little Casper has been unwell all weekend (wobbly back legs, looking spaced out, off his food and not moved from his bed for 2 days) so took him to the vets today. He's got a temperature and fast heart rate so had two injections of antibiotic and anti-inflamatory. He's also dehydrated so we've got some powder which we've mixed with water and have to syringe this into his mouth every hour until we take him back tomorrow to the vets again.

We've popped him into one of our small dog cages in our bedroom and he's all snuggled up there for now, so he'll at least have some peace and quiet from the pests downstairs.

Fingers crossed he picks up soon and is back out and keeping the other cats in the neighbourhood in line lol

Thanks guys.

We took him back to the vets today and he had another antibiotic injection, plus we have tablets to give twice a day and continue with the fluids for the rest of the week. His temp is down and heart rate back to normal which is good but he's still wobbly on his back legs. If not change then he'll need blood test doing.

Good news is we picked up a couple of tins of gourmet cat food and he's tucked into some tuna pate...spoilt boy. He'll probably turn his nose up at normal cat food now lol!

He's also loving sleeping in his cage in our bedroom like Lord Muck he is lol

yep he's seems to be picking up more now. He was actually yowling this morning to come out of his cage. He's back in the kitchen now with food water and his bed altogether so he doesn't have to keep jumping up and down off the counter. He drank a fair bit of water too on his own. He's still wobbly but hopefully once he gets more fluids and food in him he'll get stronger Poorly Casper Icon_biggrin
