Tank Setup (Finally) ;) (Pic heavy now added)
Well the tank begins! Here is initial setup, getting plants off Daz (thank you!) and I think so far so good, what do you reckon??
Decided to try a chequerboard theme and so here is the front of the tank:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Above view with tubing to opposite quarter and inevitable cloudiness of fresh washed sand!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Here is how the flow comes out the filter (if you look at the first pic can see how it is disappated against the glass) of course there is not much flow but perfect for the bettas I am guessing:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
So heater on and filter running, next stage plants (believe coming Tuesday) got a mixture of loose plantlets, limnophila aquatia, bulbs and...can't remember, hopefully it will be enough! So watch this space for phase two, plants and then all goes well, phase three BETTAS!

Yeah it will get a speckled effect going, i reinforced the bottoms so the sand has less chance of getting through but it still will (and has a little already )
Fully ready? Well I am cloning to instant cycle from my other tanks, plants Tuesday so Wednesday to check everything ok! Enigma will be going in ASAP!

What a great idea, I look forward to seeing pics with plants and fish [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Just out of interest, what size is the tank, is it a cube? [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hey Ashton it is a 18" cube all around. Plants are now in so will grab some piccys in a sec, went a little overboard from Daz but looking good and my other boys are benefitting from fresh plants too! Give me a mo!

Re: Tank Setup (Finally) ;) (Pic heavy now added)
Ok guys sorry on the delay, here are some pics, only thing worried about was for the moment have 3 marina lights on a hub in there they are not overly strong and thinking should be a temporary fix? Recommendations on whether this lighting is suitable or what relatively cheap lighting I can upgrade to in two weeks time, would be great!
Or alternatively, have a socket one where you attach a light tube in for my puff tank, can this be used for smaller light bulbs??
So here is tank:

Had lots and lots of plants so here are the other two:

p.s. recommend me on lighting! Thanks Modaz for the gorgeous plants! Will later today transfer cycled media and put Enigma in the tank and have fun catching the loaches!
p.s.s. I got some bulbs can't remember the name, will grab in a bit, only havlf buried and hope this is ok!

Wow what a great job youve done on those tanks, looking lovely! Especially loving section 4! Also yes, i find the marina lights arent too strong, ive recently bought a great light for £10, if you search fish aquarium lights, on ebay it comes up with a certain light from hong kong, mines coming soon so i will tell you what there like and the excact name, oh and there 11W.

Re: Tank Setup (Finally) ;) (Pic heavy now added)
Rule of thumb is 2 watts per gallon, so an 18ins cube would be about 20 gallons that's 40 watts. But that's what the experts say and I'm no expert [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] What sort of lid is it? If it's a glass lid you may be able to get a Superfish light that clamps onto the actual tank [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Tank Setup (Finally) ;) (Pic heavy now added)
Ahhh! The light im talking about is one you clip to the the glass of the tank and it just stays there, you can rotate it because of the bendy metal leading up to the light itself (im using a see through plastic fish tank lid then putting the light on so if it falls i dont end up with fried fish, is this useful to you or will it not fit your criteria lol?!

Re: Tank Setup (Finally) ;) (Pic heavy now added)
Mine is a glass tank that the lid slides on and there is a 16" hole (inch -2inch rim around the inside) that I can clip or rest something on...

Its a Jungle
If the marina lamps are the ones i'm thinking of, then they wont do much for the plants:(
