Molly Help!
Well my sisters new molly has had molly babies! About 30/40. Could I raise these to move on? I need help!
I have that square tank 93 litre that I have a spare heater for but no filter but no problem here as can keep up on water changes (would they have a large bioload?) What do you think of this idea? Also the tank would most likely be bare bottom and bare tanked! At least till get a couple of plants or foliage would they be ok on their own in open water? Lastly what to feed them? I have brine shrimpl flake, normal flake, betta pellets to crush and bloodworm. I would most likely raise and rehome or give to a fish store.
Please help! No idea on molly babies and appreciate!
p.s. I would like to give this a go temporarily but if you think it isnt a good idea, please let me know

yh they will be fine in a 93 liter tank. you can get really small crushed up flake at your lfs of just crush some up into tiny bits and feed them that and whn they get over a cm cruch it up a little bit and when there a inch just feed them normale flake. you dont need anythink in the tank you can if you want but its not needed. you can get small sponge fillters for a couple of £.

Re: Molly Help!
Marine salt ok?? Where they are there are many adult fish including loaches for them to be eaten, I know it is the natural order of things, but if I could perhaps raise these I think I would feel rewarded a little. As long as keep ontop of the water changes and add some salt, good to go?
Thanks pip and kizno xx Sorry when it comes to fry and livebearers no clue

OK guys scrap that completely! Turns out her ex ended up taking most, she is keeping two and there are 5 left. Would they do in a 2.5 g? Or in a 10g with lamps and betta? Feel very iffy as didnt think he had the tank space but oh well cant involved in that end of things unfortuntely. I did explain her two may not survive as it is survival of the fittest, not sure if to take the remaining 5 to try and grow or not! LOL I was originally expecting about 30 for the 93 litre

Re: Molly Help!
a 2.5 will be fine untill there about an inch and you can put them in with the adults. i have 12 1cm molly and platys fry in a breeding trap but yesterday one of my female bettas jumped in and at them all and a month ago i had 41 guppy fry in the breeding trap waiting to go in the 5g tank the next day and the breeding trap sunk and all of them got eaten in one night.

Oh no Kizno! I do find it amazing how quickly these fry can disappear through the call of nature. I will see by the weekend if I will be trying to nurture the remaining 5! LOL Thanks so much for all the help.

Re: Molly Help!
I have got about 10 mollies in a small tank with no heater! I just havent got a spare one, feeding them on liquid baby fish stuff. Suddenly realised they are not going to get much bigger in room temp. water but it is better than being eaten by the others!

Re: Molly Help!
Thats the thing me and sister were thinking, least they have more of a fighting chance by themselves. She is unsure yet what to do, but have offered to try and raise babies for her if so. She managed to save 3 guppy babies who are now 4 weeks old, so hopefully she will manage the 7 mollies (she was keeping two for herself but now considering the other 5 incase two dont survive). Im easy! lol
