Will it be overcrowded with plants? Empty Will it be overcrowded with plants?

Post by jasminek Thu 27 Aug 2009 - 10:59

My 'empty' tank atm has a big elodea in one corner, cambomba in the other corner and it has a jungle of floating elodea. It also has 2 bits of small bogwood but i have a spare java fern, could it be ok to tie that to the bark? Because i dont want the tank overcrowded? Also the java fern isnt really big but it isnt tiny, how would i tie it down with string?
Thanks.

It should be fine Jasmine....I answered your other question in the other thread lol You can tie the java fern to the bogwood using fishing line, as it doesn't rot in the water .

It wouldn't last very long with cotton as it would break down in the water after a while but would probably be ok temporarily until you can get some fishing line. I think The Range may sell it if you have one near you.

Oh, i asked my dad and he gave me a plastic thin thing. You put the end through a hole and it tightens, then you cut off the excess bit you dont need. Looks like it will work, im scared to try it incase another plant makes the tank worse lol!

dont forget the plant i'm sending you hun that would be fine in there to - maybe remove some of floating elodea and plant it in to a thicker clump

she loves her plants - have you got a name for her yet or waiting to see her - she was called shakira and has spawned once with my VT Beefa - WELL i think it was her - there's 2 almost identical :Embarassed:

Looks fine hun. You could also try laying the bogwood flat on the sand and use the sand to cover the cable tie thumbup
