Right the fish tank we got for lacy off ebay (for £5) hubby wants to put 2 bettas in it with a divider
SIZE 35x30x19 cms - 20 litres

i keep telling him it's not really enough but he seems to think it would be ok

He's being a pain in the arse today GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR and wont listen lmao

please post what you think here so i can show him , his already told lacy she can have 2 of the new ones in there

Well, we recommend a minimum of 3 UK gallons, so this tank being 17Ltrs is only 3.7 UK gallons so we wouldn't recommend dividing.

HE has now said that he will divide them until we get a blue tank for Mack and then Mack can have one of them in a tank for him Smile
So they should only be sharing for 2 weeks max

just phoned him and told him that lacy is wants the Rutilans in there
So he said thats fine lol

So now The 3 rutilans are going to go into the mermaid tank on their own to see if they will breed , hopefully they will cos i want more of these as they are soooo cute

I dont think that tank is big enough for 2 bettas, let alone three.

it's big enough for a breeding tank for the rutilans they wont breed in a large tank
the breeder i got them off breeds them in 10 litre tanks

Betta rutilans are the ones in my avatar they've about the size of an adult neon

I keep a couple of bettas in separate 2 gal (US) tanks with filters, plants, and regular water changes and they do great. Honestly, two in a 4.5 gal tank would probably be ok for awhile as long as the water was changed properly. The only issue would be that there wouldn't be enough horizontal space in that particular tank for them to comfortably patrol their fishie territories, so it wouldn't be ideal for long term housing.

I understand. Smile Just commenting on the fact that I don't believe that all tanks under 3 gallons should necessarily be dismissed as improper housing for splendens.
