Ideas?
My mom's house has TERRIBLY hard water and it ruins my tanks! You couldn't even see through the glass on my turtle tank and I have only had it since October! So today I decided to completely drain it and scrub it with a scrubber and some cleaners. It actually worked and my water is crystal clear! :D I decided to take the tank that I am re-vamping for my bettas and scrub that because it was bad too. It worked, but I can't do that every time I clean it, so does anyone have any hard water solutions that I can do with like a regular cleaning instead of a draining and scrubbing? THANKS!

Hiya
I wouldn't recommend using a metal scrubber on your glass. It will leave tiny scratches that will attract algae.
I'll try and think of what you can do to soften your water, unless anyone else knows?
We have very soft water so haven't had to worry about it.

Hey there, I thought that peat moss softened water as well as lowered the pH too. I'm sure if you did a google search it might help out, I know I've seen some products (of course I can't remember their names) at one of our pet stores but I haven't tried it out yet.
Anyone else know?

when the tank get bad I tear it down and use a brad new flat razor blade and scrape the crust off. also keeping the water level up and watching closely for signs of evaporation can help prevent the build up from getting bad.

I know there's a particular plant that helps with keeping limescale down off the glass if you've got hardwater but I can't remember which one it is......Dazzzzzzzzzzzz where are uuuuuuuu
I have trouble with it too, the plastic tanks I end up slinging. Just a case of hard work and scrubbing on the glass ones
