Dante's made up his mind
he doesn't like being a "boring" ol' copper delta anymore. he wants to be more interesting. he decided, he wants to be a copper doubletail.
Dante's my only tail biter. he only does it when i leave for hours, like to go watch a movie in the living room, play video games on my brother's TV, or go hang out with friends. it wouldn't bug me so much, if he didn't do it so extremely! i'll try to get pics of his "new look", but he's bitten a big chunk from the middle! he looks like a doubletail crowntail/Veiltail mix! D: the bottom "lobe" is long, pretty, with minimal biting. the top "lobe" is short and spikey, like a CT(he actually bit AROUND the rays, too!).
i was told that, maybe he gets bored when i leave. that i'm his entertainment. he's never done it THIS drastically before, though.
i'm almost out of aquarium salt, too. D: i use it after he chomps away, to keep infections from setting in. i use it for Cup, my VT, too, cause he over flares and rips up his fins with that. >.>;
UGH, Dante! D: if i had a "prettier" tank, you'd be moved to the living room, but, sadly, i don't. D:
anyone got any tips on how to keep him from doing that when i leave? or got any extra Aquarium Salt you don't mind sharing? >.>;

Have you tried a ping pong ball? Some get bored and will play with it.
Nose it around the surface.

Re: Dante's made up his mind
he has a little glass dolphin connected to a glass bubble by a string, but he doesn't pay it any attention. he chomped his tail, even with it in there. i'd move it around, and he'd watch, but ignore it(i swear he'd push it to a corner of his tank where he can't see it! lol)
i looked online, and found a 2.5 gallon that mom would let me keep in the living room, but it's $31! Dx

I've heard that rearranging the tank can distract them for awhile and
swapping out the dolphin toy for a ping pong ball might work a little. He
could be bored with the dolphin. Just a thought.
I hope you can manage to acquire the new tank!

i talked mom into letting me keep him in the living room. and stole the plants from Chappy's tank, since she doesn't give two looks at them. i changed his water, re-arranged things, put the new plants in there, and placed him on an end table in the living room. he spent a long while swimming around, between his plants, checking things out. :3

When i put my Blizzard in his tank in the livingroom it was near the tv sometimes he would go to the side of the tank and just stare...i wonder if he was actually watching the tv!

Re: Dante's made up his mind
I put things next to my boys tanks, like spoons, or teddies, they look at their reflections or the toys faces. Years ago my Mr Bojangles used to spend most of his day flaring at a toy chicken......got a photo somewhere
