Does anyone else notice that their veiltails seem more aggressive than other betta types? I have three veiltails along with two crowntails, a double tail and a delta tail, and the three veiltails are by far the most aggressive. Two of them even routinely jump out of the water at feeding time!

I've only had 2 vt's, 2 ct's and 1 hm. Out of these the 1st ct is by far the most aggressive feeder of the ones as some oly feed once I've had. Only his really beaks the surface, but its like he snaps at it. I wouldn't refer to it as jumping
with mine.

I do feed mine smaller amounts twice a day as opposed to once as some.

I wonder if it has more to do with the feeding routines they received at the
breeding farms and pet stores. Just a thought.

You could be right as all three of my veiltails are from the same family-run pet store, and they get all their bettas from a particular breeding farm in Singapore.

My VT seems a lot more intelligent! He's a solid red VT though, so genetically one of the least inbred bettas you can buy Wink he is definitely more aggressive than the HMs and deltas I have had.

On the other hand, my grey HM butterfly marble is incredibly aggressive, he doesn't jump but is a very vigorous feeder and is constantly nipping me if I put my hand in the tank! He flares non stop at his tankmates too and has had to be separated until his tail has finished healing after he blew it.

The most aggressive betta I have is a VT, but the one that jumps the highest is a HM. I think my most intelligent would have to be a female (of course lol).

Yes in two places. There's an empty divider space in between him and Citizen Fish now though, and he's not bothering to flare. The splits healed nicely, but he nibbled some of the length away where the bits were flapping around, and this is growing back slowly but steadily.

CF blew his too, they would flare at each other non stop all day. His was a single split right down the centre of the tail, but it healed up really fast as soon as they were separated and looks fine now Smile

My VT jumps, and is more vicious at feeding time.

Touch wood, I've never had a fish blow its fins, but they do stretch them from excessive flaring. The VT looks like a RTVT lol
