Unsure about live daphnia!
Iv bought some live daphnia today and im a little unsure with how to feed it to my betta, should i use a pipette and put it in the tank that way or do i pour it out the bag into the tank?

We normally use a pipette or one of those plastic syringes. That way you have better control over what they get. Pop them in the fridge and they should last a few days.

Yeah like netty said pipette is the best way. I use tweezers for blood worm.

I generally use tweezers for bloodworm like Kizno but when we had alot of fry to feed I used the syringes too. Just made it alot quicker.

For bloodworm I use cocktail sticks to hook the bloodworm and drop it into the water. I obviously don't let the boys go near the cocktail stick in case it hurts their wee mouths.

Because all of this live food can be a carrier of disease, I pour it out into a net and rinse under the tap. Far easier than faffing around with tweezers or cocktail sticks!

I do that aswell and then put them in a tub of clean water and use tweezers to spread them around the tank.Time-Out wrote:Because all of this live food can be a carrier of disease, I pour it out into a net and rinse under the tap. Far easier than faffing around with tweezers or cocktail sticks!

Re: Unsure about live daphnia!
Sounds like a mosquito larva. There are always nasties in live food, when I tipped a whole bag of daphnia in to act as food while we went on holiday there was some sort of aquatic woodlouse looking thing in there, I'm assuming one of my ADFs ate it because we never saw it again!
Re: Unsure about live daphnia!
Its a creepy looking thing, im not feeding that to my bettas, but im amazed at how quick my boys and girls snapped them up they really enjoyed them...mmm!!

I got mine from the place in Bolton, but when I went yesterday they only had a few tiny ones and there was one big one dead in the tank so obviously they're not bothering to target feed them. There's a very reputable place just near Manchester city centre that sells them though, they always have millions of them and in good condition.
I like the albino creepy frogs can't mix them with fish though.
Re: Unsure about live daphnia!
Can you PM me the name of the shop with millions of ADF's please? lol!
