My new CT x Empty My new CT x

Post by liz2 Tue 24 Aug 2010 - 23:42

so I picked up the red/orange ct I fell in love with but didnt get the other day. I had him in a tank that was quite high. Now he seems to struggle to swim to the surface in it. So after some juggling about he is now in a longer tank with water about 6 inches deep and a heater and seems happier. It could just be the size of his fins that is causing him trouble. He is flaring and eating. I havent had cts before is this normal for them to struggle to swim with their extended finnage?

The do seem to wiggle a fair bit, esp heavily finned ones. My first betta was a CT and he was always swishing!

The way my CT's swim, I call it 'squidding around' because they wriggle and push back their fins like an squid or a jellyfish does with it's tentacles, instead of the usual smooth way most fish swim!
