black cories?
we took a look at the lfs yesterday to see what they had and get some prices for when i go to get the new stock for the 20 gallon. i was looking at the cories and they had one tank that had black cories. it had black gravel in it and by some miracle one of the cories swam up hich enough that he didnt blend in or i would have never seen them!! they were labled as emerald green cories, but i highly doubt it since they are pitch black. is there a chance they are the emeralds? they were the cheapest ones they had too at $1.79 a piece!!!!!USD! if they have them in a couple weeks i would like to get them, but need to figure out what kind they are and if they are going to be ok in the 20 gallon!!

Re: black cories?
i think the price is because they have no idea what they are! they are labled as the emerald and are obviously not so thats good for me

Re: black cories?
are you going to put them in the 55g with the snails? they would love it in there and they shoulnt eat the snails unless there newly born but if the corys spawn the snails will eat there eggs.

Re: black cories?
i got the sand in the tank and got the cories today. not sure if they are the black ones now that they are in my tank though...they looked black at the store on the black gravel and while i was acclimising them but now they are much lighter. not sure what the real color is now! i think they are the emerald they had them labled as if that is right? i dont know but they are wonderful! i only got three of them as the rest didnt look that great but also got two albino and one false julli i cant spell the name of them. they were labled as julli but im pretty sure it isnt.

Re: black cories?
thank you sheena! i watched them for a good hour lastnight and they are really active! accept for the false julli, it is very shy compared to the others but i can always get a few more like it and see if that helps the shyness

Re: black cories?
I had jullis before and they are extremely shy creatures - but i also found they arent as hardy as the other variants

haych- apparentally if the dots on the head are individual and not connected together kinda like a maze then they are the real julli's the ones with the maze dots are the false ones.
