Romper Roodles Empty Romper Roodles

Post by Lexi69 Mon 8 Jun 2009 - 16:26

These are a couple of pics of Romper the hound puppy my mum is walking for the local hunt. When they get a litter of puppies they send them to different homes where we treat them like a normal puppy getting them used to different sights and sounds until they are ready to be taken back to the pack which is normally about 6 months! Its abit like what they do with guide dogs except you want to give them back at 6 months because they start to hunt and tend to disappear for hours!!

I know Hunting can be a VERY contraversial subject so before anyone shouts at me about it. The hunt I go with is a drag hunt! (we chase chopped liver in a sock) therefore there is nothing cruel about it and no animals get killed! (except the one that donated the liver) 🤣 sunny

this is the first day we got him so he was very scared being away from his brothers/sisters for the first time

Awwww he is just super cute  My grandfather was a forester in Germany and trained German Pointers........I used to spend all my time with him and part of the training was to leave a trail of blood for miles using a fairy liquid bottle and leave a dead fox at the end of it. Then we'd go back and get the dog and start him working. Nothing beats working with a dog that's doing what it's supposed to do.

He's a harrier which is a mixture of the two! They are to small to hunt foxes because of the beagle in them but are the perfect size for hares which is what they are designed to hunt (hence the name harrier)

I agree Netty watching them hunt especially as a pack is great is one of the best sights in the world IMO!! sunny

Not long till we have to send him back!!! crying crying crying crying I dont want 2!!!!

So gorgeous. I've had beagles all my life, so a hound always melts my heart
