Re: favourite betta foods ?
Bettas have a tendency to be rather picky eaters, from my experience anyway! I know a lot aren't keen on flake food, my old betta, Moby, used to spit it out. My personal favourite is Hikari betta bio gold. If you can't find it at your LFS they usually have some on ebay

Re: favourite betta foods ?
I use attisons betta pellets and bloodworm, brineshrimp for my bettas, hikari micro pellets for the other fish and hikari algae wafers for the apple snails and shrimp
Re: favourite betta foods ?
Bettas tend to do better on a specialist food, I'm afraid. They have the right balance of nutrients for them rather than a general blend.
I feed Hikari Betta Bio Gold which you can get for £1.50-£2 on Ebay or elsewhere online.
At a push I'll feed flake (Tetra Pro Crisps) but it's not ideal and flake can lead to greater constipation problems.
They also like bloodworm/brineshrimp/mosquito larvae/daphnia once a week and go nuts for bits of cooked pea (minus the 'shell')!

Re: favourite betta foods ?
I'd receommend Hikari Betta bio gold if you only have a few bettas but once you have many this is very expensive.
More than ten bettas then ocean nutrition Atison's betta pellets are great ( I still use hikari bio as treats) 60-70gram tubs plus bigger breeders packs of the pro although I've personally found my bettas prefer the blue standard atisons compared to the pro.... all given a choice they'd all prefer the hikari!!!
they do love live foods best ofcourse but not so good for their nutritional balance if using only live all day everyday... makes them fat!!

Re: favourite betta foods ?
ive found that my bettas actually get a lot more excited over the tetra pro crisps (sort of like flakes) than they do over freeze dried bloodworm, i dont like to give them live foods as ive heard they can carry diseases so i always opt. for the freeze dried, i have noticed that mine will sit and piick at tubifex cubes for hours?, i have 2 apple snails aswell but i dont really feed them they just munch around at the waste on the glass,, should i get some proper food for them.. i know its not the right forum but does anyone know why my apple snails are peeling, theyre shells have sort of flaked away meaning the beautiful golden snails i used to have have turned a greyish white, ther are still parts of yellow but its still flaking away
