This is it then. Finally Made it! Hello Everyone!
Glad i have finally made it here, after constantly seeing Aly (betta_246) my little sister on this forum, i thought i should join it too!
As to introducing myself, my name (well nickname) is Billy. Im Aly's big brother. I havent got any betta tanks but i've got a 125l community. Currently thinking about getting my 2yr old daughter a betta, But i will be responsible for it ofcourse.
Anyways, will be good to hear from you all, and i will hopefully give as much help on the forum as i know.

Just merged the threads
Glad you made it here. Bettas are a good choice for a childs first fish as they have real personalities and interact with their owners

Oh no! Double trouble! hehe
Welcome to the forum, nice to find that Aly's been luring others to the thrill of betta's, soon you'll be hooked I swear!
Betta's are great fish for kids like Netty said, they really interact and there's no need for a super-sized tank (if she's super girly there are always those 17l pink mermaid tanks by hagen) Hope all goes well on the new betta adventure! :D

Or another girly tank is the one in this thread (No 4). This is an aquastart320 and belongs to the daughter of one of our members

Thats better, so where was i.....
Me and OH done our routine weekly round with Sammy to P@H . Theres not pets in my flat apart from the fish, wish she cant hold
So shes happy seeing the rabbits and Guniea Pigs. Well apart from Alfie, who she constantly tries to pick up, but hes too fat!
I did see a pink Mermaid tank, the one Rezz is saying, in PAH.

I think i might get it for her then. 2.5G is the minimum i heard. So that tank should be fine. Oh and it has a little filter too, so then i might keep that in the Rio too, with some of the main tanks media, to let it cycle with the community fish
Is it advisable to get a heater? Aly's first betta, the yellow one didnt have a heater, till he was moved into her community tank.
Its a sin, my lappy is in for repair so i have to use there pc.

They're tropical fish so a heater really is needed to make sure, yup, that's the tank I meant, it comes with the little filter (pink too if I'm not mistaken) If I were you I'd pop the filter into your big tank, leave it there running for minimum of a week or two, then when you're ready pop it back into the proper tank with the new betta :D

yup 25w would be ideal, might be able to get one off ebay pretty cheap I think, nowhere local to me sells anything less than 50w so it might be the only option.
