Should you let them see eachother during conditioning.

Difficult one to answer??
Some males will stop building a nest if a female is in chimney after a week.
Some females will get eggy too quickly before the male is ready.

We normally have the male in the tank for a week to 10 days, then put the female in her chimney and continue feeding up. Its one of those things that varies depending on the individual fish.

it doesnt matter to be honest. But always advisable if the female is conditioned away from the male that you let her stay in view of him ,but safe, a few days before releasing her in to his tank.

No, we're similar:) i.e. making sure the male and female can see eachother for at least 4 days [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

when not in soroity tank i keep male/female/male/female/male tanks... usually diff colour lines... enough to keep interest but not to excessive flare or egg bound girls.

feeding up prior to spawn tank last a week for me... girls I keep this way are usually ready to spawn within a few days.
If the male get's busy with nest they will often spawn within hours.

Not always the case ofcourse but seeing each other or others of oposite sex always helps speed up process... for me anyway.

wouldn't do any harm while conditioning prior to breeding tank if they side by side.. it should speed up process in breeding tank if anything.

my opinion anyway.. everyone has their own preference of what works best.

letting them have glimpse for few hours daily while condition should keep interest without inducing excessive fin flare or female getting egg bound and speed up process of spawning in tank if they are interested in each other.

card them and give them often glimpses wouldn't go amiss
