My Bettas Heater Broke! Help...
Stupidly i left the heater on when doing a water change i smelt a bad burning smell coming from the heater so the heater was on out of the water so i left it then turned it on again and the light came on but the temp didnt rise! Im currently using a heatmat under the tank but i cant see this making much difference, i dont want my betta to die because she gets to cold what can i do?
(I have to wait until i have money for a heater but will order another asap.)

do you have a breeding trap so you could put her in there and put her in another tank just for now.

Re: My Bettas Heater Broke! Help...
Could i not put her in a smaller volume of water? Like a big bowl and then put the heat mat under or something? i have a large white bucket but its flat and its square mor wide not high atall, i could use that.

that might help just make sure you scrub it with really hot water. do you know anyone with a tank that she could go in or know anyone with a spear heater.

It would be abit of a pain, but could you lower water level and keep adding warm water.

Re: My Bettas Heater Broke! Help...
Not moved her yet. Might just take out half the water then add some very hot water. She seems ok.

Re: My Bettas Heater Broke! Help...
well done you two,
you seemed to have sorted it out,
well done on the win also that was close!!
hopefully netty or van will help you on
keeping the water warm,i would just add
some warm water to not alot you can do
till your new heater gets there,
try and keep the tank in a room that is
warm might help too
you could use a hot water bottle on the back of the tank
just pop it up then push tank against it,
sorry havent got any more ideas,
hope all goes well will keep looking to see ::

Re: My Bettas Heater Broke! Help...
if i was you hun i would do a water change now - trying to match the temp of the tank as usual
Adding hot water and increasing the water temp to quickly can cause stress and deseases
She'd be best to stay in her own tank with the heatmat underneath - room temp in the summer should be fine for her until you get the new heater
better than fluctuating the water temp all the time

Re: My Bettas Heater Broke! Help...
Just try and keep the temp up best you can, if its falls below and you cant get it up. Just add alittle warm water at a time.
