Red nearly got cooked!!
Checked on all my bettas as i do regularly just to mainly talk to them and see how they are, noticed Red my crowntail boy wasnt about like he usually would be flaring at his neighbour...looked around still couldnt see him (its only a 5.5 litre tank!!) noticed a red face peeping out from underneath the filter.
So checking what was wrong with him looked at all the other boys who where fine then looking back at Red i notice his temperature is sky high at over 40*C so paniced and removed him; looked at the heater which was only set to 27*C took it out straight away and put it in the bin...im not going to trust any other make of heater anymore other than 'Interpet Delta therm' that iv never had a problem with. If anyone uses a 'Fish R fun' branded heater id watch them very carefully!!

Re: Red nearly got cooked!!
Glad you checked in time. Dont move him into normal temp water to quick because that wont do him any good at all. Ive had problems with Fish R Fun heaters before but only by 3-4C nothing that bad. There not the best brand for heaters and filters if im honest. I always try to go for Fluval because there a great brand and very reliable equipment.

Well i wont be risking that brand again...heaters anyway...iv got the internal filters for my small tanks and have had no problems with them **touch wood**
I have a fluval heater in my 95 litre fluval tank and i dont think they are brill, maybe as iv always relayed on the interpet delta therm ones.

Re: Red nearly got cooked!!
I hope hes alright now!
Glad you've notified everyone of the defective heater! Don't take a chance on cheap folks if you
can help it at all. !5-20% more has to be worth the peace of mind. Even 50% more! Of course
my middle initial is C. for Cheap!

WOAH! that happened to me, with my Top Fin brand heater. cooked my guppies and mom's X-ray tetras. ;A; i felt horrible, because the guppies were an adopted trio of brothers, and the tetras were mom's new favorite. of course, i think mine was just a freak thing that happened.

Basically theres only two things that can go wrong not counting breakage.
That would be the element or the thermostat. If its glowing its the thermostat.
I'm think I should start upgrading a couple of mine at least because they
are preset a little sporadic at best. Don't ant to look back and think I should have!

I know exactly what you mean after my miss hap with that flippin heater im not taking any risks! I just keep looking at him thinking to myself he was very lucky poor little boy...he's in his element at the moment as he's in a breeding box in the girls tank! His girlfriend Sophie (female he spawned with) keeps going over looking at him showing her stripes again and shes very eggy AGAIN!!

Fair enough, I like the guards the E series have because with all my catfish i didnt want to risk them getting burned from latching onto the heater.
