What about the BN?
If your just going for corys i would go for a big group of about 10-12 they look and do alot better in bigger groups.

i dont know i may get one going looking tomorrow at my local MH so we'll see, also thought about getting some neon tetras maybe. If i got more cories could they be a mix of peppered and albino?

Re: Females in a community?
Fair enough. Neons should be fine although they are know for not lasting long but they can work out well if kept correctly. You can mix them but you need to make sure you have atleast 4 of each but 6+ of each would be best.

Re: Females in a community?
Right okay, thanks about the corys Im not ruling out a BN just asking lots of questions so i know whats best. Iv been looking on wikipedia at different types of Pleco's and all the ones i seem to like grow too big! But i do like the look of the Zebra Plec but as you said they are very expensive.

Rummynoses are sweet fishies! I've not had any nipping probs with them and they look lovely in a large shoal as the colours are so pretty
Albino corys are so funny, they seem more mental than others

Who long is the tank?
If you want something a little different what about a spiny eel. Or a peacock goby.

Re: Females in a community?
You might get away with a spiny eel then. The peacock gobies would work well in there. I dont know much about them though andy would be the best person for info.

Re: Females in a community?
Disappointed found nothing in MH as most of the fish where new and wherent being sold till tomorrow...cant go back tomorrow either There where some nice baby bristlenoses then normal colour and 2 albino ones. They where quite nice but of course couldnt sell them till tomorrow. They where priced up at £10 does that sound about right for a bristlenose?
My other lfs was more disappointing as they usually have so many more plec's than they had today, but its about right when i go looking for something i cant get but when im not there's loads, lol!
Went looking at the 'goldfish' and they are really pretty so maybe getting a new tank for some of those, although the ones that look like they have 2 tails look strange. The ones with the bumpy head (i say they look like they've got brains hanging out!) are so cute!
I did see a catfish i liked cant remember what its called but it looked very lively and they where silver...il find out.

Re: Females in a community?
BNs vary in price alot. Theres one shop i got to that sells them at £5 for ones 2-3" where as another shop sells them at 1" for £8. £10 does sound on the expensive side though.
Was the catfish one of these?
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
If it was it will grow as tall as you. They can get over 6' long.

Fair enough. If you see anything with that sort of shape stay clear of them the hole of that family of fish will get over 1meter.Nataliey wrote:kizno1 wrote:BNs vary in price alot. Re: Females in a community?
fair enough. Are you just going for 1BN or do you think you will get a pair? It might be worth looking for a breeder because if there £10 each you might be able to find a breeder that sells them for alot cheaper so if you buy a few it would work out alot cheaper. Plus if you buy a few and grow them up if there quite expensive near you you might be able to get a good price for selling them.

Re: Females in a community?
You could try and go for a Asian biotope
with things like
bottom dwellers
Acrochordonichthys rugosus
Pseudomystus siamensi
Hara jerdoni
Mystus bimaculatus
Pangio kuhlii (Kuhli Loach)
mid dwellers
Harlequin rasbora
glowlight rasbora
copper rasbora
well any rasbora
cherry barbs
gold barbs
rosy barbs
barbs can be a little weird sometimes some can be nippy but others are fine.
Theres quite a few more but there all i can think of.

Re: Females in a community?
I just noticed this
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
If you want to make the tank a little more interesting you could try it but instead of the gourami use bettas. And a lid or they will jump.
