what plants would be best? Empty what plants would be best?

I just got a little male betta. And I was wondering what plants they seem to like. I currently have a silk plant in with him. Also I need nice low maintenance low light plants that will thrive in cold or tropical water preferably.

Do I need to buy plant stuff for the water?

Only just seen this post so sorry for a late reply. I ONLY use low maintenance live plants in my tanks!! That means no special plant food and no specific lighting needs. I use java fern, moss balls and floating plants called duckweed and amazon frogbit. The floating plants need some light, they get natural light and around 8hrs of tanklight a day, and they do fine with that. The java fern and mossballs can survive nearly anything so I don't do anything to them :-) Mossballs and floating plants also soak up some of the nitrates in your tank, so they keep the water healthier.

Hope this helps and your new boy is getting along OK.

Glad all is well with your newb. Live plants will naturally help keep your water in good shape. It may a little while but once they were established in the tank (it took around two weeks for mine) you'll notice your nitrates start to drop which is good for your boy :-) Good luck, I bet your tank will look fab once you're done.
