Why oh why…
Is it every single time I have someone coming to look at the mare, the paint I have up for sale or lease, she absolutely must roll in pond scum, cow poop and a sticker bush. I spent 2 hours this morning picking burrs out of her mane and tail, then had to break out the no more tangles hair conditioner to rub into the fur on her body to be able to comb the burrs out of her fur. Paint horses, along with many of the American stock horse breeds have the ability to grow a fabulous supper thick winter coat. She looks like a Shetland pony on Rogaine.
I have her up for sale or lease because time wise it is just so hard for me to take care of two horses by myself. Its like she knows people are coming to look at her and because she would never dream of acting naughty when ridden or worked with she must find ways to make herself look utterly disgusting. The worst part is she got so many burrs on her face and in her forelock that it irritated her eye and she really detests me wiping it clean and putting cream on it.

it really is isent it. I actualy had her pretty much sold, but the lady that wanted her got thrown by her other horse when it threw a tantrum and got hurt very badly.
hopefully the weather stays nice, well dry for tomorrow, because its certianly not warm right now.

They would definately get bad marks for that lol The judge needs to check them all over and their coat texture. Don't think they'd like to run their hands through that muck lol
I have had it happen at dog agility competitions too but it makes no difference if they stink in that.

Lol, Newfishy!
Mine are a bit like that. As soon as I want to go out with them they make a point of getting as FILTHY as possible.
Mine are quarter horses so they get that stupidly thick winter coat as well. ARG!
